Expert Predicts Kampot and Kep to Be Focus of Next Real Estate Boom

Kampot and Kep are slated to be the focus of a real estate boom in Cambodia over the next 10 years, in the footsteps of the three main cities, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville.

Sorn Seap, founder, and director of Key Real Estate Co., Ltd. and former vice-president of the Cambodian Valuers and Estate Agents Association (CVEA), sees great potential in Kampot and Kep, and also expects the areas to be increasing hits for the tourism market.

“The two provinces will likely gradually attract many developers and investors in the years to come,” said Mr. Seap.  “The reason is that the land prices at the moment are still affordable, which is good for developers to invest.”

“Another reason is that both provinces attract a lot of Cambodian visitors, especially from Phnom Penh. When more people visit, demands for accommodation as well as other facilities will also increase,” he added.

According to Mr. Seap, both provinces are well-located near the beach, along with mountains and other sightseeing attractions. It is a good location for real estates such as hotels, condos, apartments, and others. They can become ‘second Sihanoukvilles’ in the future.

Development in the areas would not only benefit the developers but also people living in the provinces, while at the same time helps ease the crowds at the current tourist-magnet sites.
