Four New Auto Brands to Set Up Assembly Plants in Cambodia

In addition to Ford, four new auto brands are set to open auto assembly plants in Cambodia located in Cam MJ Industrial Park on National Road 3 in Angkor village, Ang Por Peul commune, Kong Pisey district, Kampong Speu province, with an investment of about 15.6 million US dollars, according to the release of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) on 17 June 2022.

The four auto brands include the Soueast with four models of passenger car, FAW with five truck models, Dongfeng with 10 models of passenger car, and MG with four models of passenger cars.

GTV Motor’s investment is expected to create 738 jobs.

This is good news for Cambodia after Ford, a popular car in Cambodia under the investment of RMA Automotive (Cambodia), announced the opening of an auto assembly plant in Pursat province on 16 June 2016. (Read more)

In future, not only Ford and the four brands above will begin local assembly. ISUZU under the investment of K (Cambodia) Co Ltd will also set up a car assembly plant in Kampong Speu with a total investment of US$7.3 million, according to an announcement by the Council for the Development of Cambodia on 17 February 17.
