French Institute AgroParisTech Unveils Four Key Recommendations to Enhance Sanitation and Wastewater Management in Cambodia

Renowned for its expertise in the field, the esteemed French Institute AgroParisTech has imparted invaluable knowledge to Cambodian experts, sharing four pivotal recommendations to enhance the management of Cambodia’s sanitation and wastewater sector.

These insightful recommendations were at the core of an immersive three-and-a-half-day training course held at the prestigious Techo Sen Institute of Public Works and Transport from 13th to 16th June 2023.

The comprehensive training covered four critical topics crucial to the advancement of sanitation and wastewater management in Cambodia:

  • Collective and non-collective Sanitation governance: Streamlining governance structures and practices for efficient management.
  • Skills and expertise in sanitation: Equipping professionals with the necessary technical know-how and expertise to tackle complex sanitation challenges.
  • Sanitation management: An ecological service Economy and finance: Exploring sustainable economic models to ensure sanitation management services’ long-term viability and financial stability.
  • Financial stability of sanitation management services and pricing models: Examining innovative pricing models for both collective and non-collective sanitation, while ensuring the financial sustainability of these crucial services.

By partaking in this transformative training, national and sub-national officials from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport have gained invaluable technical skills, enhanced management capabilities, and deepened their understanding of wastewater systems’ governance and economic intricacies.

Armed with these insights, Cambodia is poised to bolster its sanitation and wastewater management capabilities, driving sustainable development and safeguarding the well-being of its citizens.
