US retailer Walmart mulls expanding business in Cambodia

Walmart, a well-known retail company in the United States, is looking to expand its business in Cambodia.

Walmart Representative Anbinh Phan mentioned the company’s plan in a virtual meeting with HE Pan Sorasak, Minister of Commerce on 5 January 2023.

In the meeting, she said that Walmart intends to expand its business and cooperate to strengthen business and investment partnerships in Cambodia, and create jobs for Cambodians, especially women, to promote economic growth and reduce poverty.

Walmart remains a good business partner with Cambodian manufacturers in the garment, textile and agricultural sectors, she said.

Ms Anbinh Phan also praised the Royal Government of Cambodia’s ability to effectively manage the situation of COVID-19 and congratulated the Ministry of Commerce on achieving new free trade agreements (RCEP), Cambodia-China, and Cambodia-Korea.

For his part, HE Pan Sorasak said welcomed Walmart representatives and colleagues who requested the cooperation of the Ministry of Commerce in expanding its business in Cambodia and highly valued Walmart’s orders for garments and travel accessories from Cambodia.

In the past, US retail giant Walmart has always supported Cambodia by increasing orders for a wide range of products from Cambodia. (Read more)
