Gov’t Gifts 1.4 million Hectares of Social Concessional Land to Veteran Families

To date, the government has provided a total of almost 1.4 million hectares of social concessional land to veteran families and border guards.

The figure was explained by HE Seng Lot, Director General of the Administration Department of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction in a press conference on 24 August.

“To show gratitude to veterans and border guards who have been protecting the territory, the government has introduced a policy of granting social land concessions to them. To date, almost 48,000 families received a benefit from the scheme with 1.4 million hectares of land and 8,000 houses gifted,” said HE Seng Lot.

Besides, the government has been also running the LASED program. LASED or Land Allocation for Social and Economic Development (LASED) is a program co-organized by the World Bank and the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, to provide land to poor and indigenous people in Cambodia.

Since the project began in 2008, at least 30,000 hectares of land have been provided to more than 50,000 poor families across the kingdom. (Read more and more)
