Gov’t & Private Sector Join Forces to Boost Local Agricultural Production with MOU

In a major step towards boosting local agricultural production, the Ministry of Commerce has collaborated with six leading feed manufacturers to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote key agricultural products such as red corn, cassava, and other raw materials in Cambodia.

This was announced at an MOU signing ceremony by HE Cham Nimal, Minister of Commerce, on 19 March 2025.

The six companies are: MPIC ACMC (Cambodia), Betagro (Cambodia) Company Limited, Agri-Master Co., Ltd., The Hershey TMX, A&T Feed Co., Ltd., and CJ Jeljidang Feed (Cambodia) Co., Ltd.

Through this MoU, the Ministry of Commerce will coordinate with the six companies to procure 189,000 tons of red maize, 81,600 tons of cassava, 51,130 tons of rice husks, and 57,730 tons of bran.

This joint effort aims to mitigate the challenges posed by rising feed prices and promote investment in local agro-processing. It is expected to enhance the value and strengthen the value chain of these products, ultimately creating more business opportunities in the agri-business sector. This initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to promote an inclusive socio-economic environment in Cambodia.

By joining forces between the government and the private sector, this MoU is set to pave the way for a more sustainable future for Cambodia’s agricultural landscape, fostering growth and resilience in local farming communities.
