Ground Broken on National Vocational Tourism Schools

The construction of the National Vocational Tourism Schools (VSTs) has officially begun, aiming to enhance human resources in the tourism sector.

The ceremony was presided over by HE Chea Sophara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction on 24 November.

The project will be built in two locations. The first one will be in Phnom Penh and the second in Sihanoukville under an  €11 million fund financed by a loan from the French Agency for Development (AFD).

For Phnom Penh, two buildings will be constructed which include other features such as classrooms, study rooms, lecturers’ rooms, computer rooms, meeting rooms, practice rooms for hotel services, food and beverage services, travel services and tourism room,  library, restaurant, and first aid room, storage room, parking system, green space, and other.

This school will have four tourism professional training programs including 1. Hotel & Accommodation Services & Tourism 2. Food & Beverage Services 3. Travel Services and 4. Advanced Tourism & Diploma Services.

The ministry further stated that the purpose of establishing this project is to help build professional skills for Cambodian human resources to participate in the restoration of tourism in Cambodia.
