Japan’s Generous Contribution Enhances Land Surveying and Registration in Cambodia

A significant leap forward in Cambodia’s land surveying and registration efforts is now underway, thanks to Japan’s substantial contribution of approximately US$9.7 million. The support comes as part of the project for the “Establishment of a Nationwide Continuously Operating Reference Station Network,” which aims to strengthen administrative services related to land registration.

The exchange of notes and accompanying documents signifying Japan’s grant aid extension was officially inked on 26 October 2023. HE Sok Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, and HE Ueno Atsushi, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia, officiated the signing, marking a significant milestone in Cambodia’s infrastructure and land management projects.

The project’s primary goal is to expedite cadastral surveying through the installation of a Nationwide Continuously Operating Reference Station Network. This comprehensive network, generously supported by Japan, stands to revolutionize land registration, streamline administrative procedures, and significantly boost infrastructure projects throughout the country.

Japan’s dedication to supporting Cambodia in its quest for a more efficient and modernized land management system has been reaffirmed through this grant aid extension. The collaboration is not only a testament to the strong ties between the two nations but also highlights Japan’s commitment to bolstering Cambodia’s economic development, infrastructure, and administrative capacity.

This endeavor is poised to create lasting positive impacts by not only enhancing cadastral surveying but also facilitating a more robust land registration process, ultimately serving the greater benefit of the Cambodian population.
