KOICA’s Propels Cambodia’s Socio-Economic Development with US$366.5m Investment

KOICA has played a pivotal role in Cambodia’s socio-economic advancement, channelling a substantial investment of over US$366.5 million. This extensive support, spanning from 1991 to 2023, underscores the unwavering commitment of KOICA to fostering progress in Cambodia.

The profound impact of KOICA’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) is evident across key sectors, with a strategic focus on Water Management and Public Health, Education, Agriculture and Rural Development, and Transportation. This broad spectrum of initiatives reflects the shared vision of Cambodia and Korea in propelling the nation towards sustainable development.

A recent meeting between HE Chhieng Yanara, Senior Minister in Charge of Special Missions and Second Vice-Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), and Ms Choi Moon Jung, Country Director of the KOICA Cambodia Office, served as a platform to acknowledge and appreciate the transformative influence of these projects. HE Chhieng Yanara expressed heartfelt gratitude to KOICA and the Republic of Korea for their continuous support, emphasising the pivotal role played in Cambodia’s socio-economic landscape.

Looking ahead, both parties discussed the roadmap for future cooperation, contemplating the development of new and pragmatic projects for 2026. This collaborative spirit aims to align KOICA’s expertise with Cambodia’s evolving needs, fostering a symbiotic relationship for mutual growth.

As a notable highlight, preparations for the inauguration ceremony of the National Incubation Centre of Cambodia (NICC) at the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) were also on the agenda. This initiative stands as a testament to the enduring partnership between the two nations, ushering in a new era of innovation and knowledge exchange.
