A Korean company is considering bringing new technology to produce clean water and energy in Cambodia using solar systems and is looking for local partners, according to a Facebook post by the Ministry of Commerce over the weekend.

In meeting with H.E Pan Sorasak, Minister of Commerce, Mr Gyu-Ha Jang, Vice President of the Korea Importers Association (KOIMA), announced initiative, saying that the use of new the technology dubbed ‘Solar Hope Farm’ can store clean water as well as provide solar power.

However, he plans to test the project first and intends to partner with local investors to implement the project.

Construction & Property Magazine could not contact either the company or the Ministry of Commerce for clarification about the ‘Solar Hope Farm’ technology. However, based on our research, this technology is similar to the floating solar power plant technology that is popular in Korea. The solar plant does not only float on the water, but the panels will rotate through the sun’s movement for the entire day. This technology can produce more electricity than the regular solar plants on soil.

In response to the proposed project, H.E Pan Sorasak appreciated Mr Gyu-Ha Jang’s initiative, saying that the use of this technology would benefit the rural population especially in areas where electricity and clean water were not currently available.
