MPWT Warns Locals to Stop Breaking Expressway Fencing

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) has warned the locals to stop breaking or cutting barbed razor wire fences along the expressway after finding out many spots have been damaged.

During the inspection on 28 September led by MPWT’s Undersecretary of State HE Soeng Sokong, the team found that the locals have been cutting the fence open for commuting both for themselves and their pet animals.

“The purpose of the fence is to prevent animals from passing. Passing through fences of the expressway is extremely dangerous as all vehicles are driving at high speed. Thus, locals have to understand this and stop doing so,” said HE Soeung Sokong.

The Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway will open for a free trial for a month from 1 October 2022 onwards.
