Ministry of Environment approves the 20 hectares construction stone site

The Ministry of Environment supports the 20.92 hectares construction stone site located in the Phnom Srouch Mountain of Kampong Speu Province on the first Environmental Social Impact Assessment Report (IESIA) report.

According to a post on the ministry’s Facebook page on 4 December, the project has been assessed and the ministry pointed out seven points to ensure proper compliance with environmental standards.

The project is in Phnom Sruoch village of Kampong Speu province owned by China Sui Tai Rock Factory with SBK Research and Development being the consulting firm.

The instruction includes; 1) support this project to contribute to the development of the construction sector and generate revenue through taxation 2) the project owner must cooperate with the consulting firm to update the environmental and social impact assessment report 3) the project owner must deal with the impact to residents and schools affected by the noise and vibration and dust from business 4) the owner of the project must prepare the relevant documents and register the land properly, 5) in cooperation with relevant authorities, the owner must construct 650 meter road linking the site to National Road No.4, 6) the project owner must contribute to the development of social work in the local community 7) the project owner should edit the report as guide by the meeting.

The review of the first Environmental Impact Assessment Report (IESIA) was attended by a total of 36 stakeholders at the Ministry of Environment.
