MISTI Issues New Standards to Strengthen Construction and Electrical Safety

The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI) has adopted 20 new standards from ISO, IEC and UNECE to use in Cambodia, seven of which aim to strengthen construction and electrical safety in households and buildings.

MISTI announced these new standards during the 24th video call meeting of the National Standards Council (NSC) on 27 August.

There are three new standards issued for the construction sector which focuses regulations related to non-pressurised plastic pipes and Polyethylene pipe for drainage, clean water, and sewage system.

Meanwhile, four news standards are to strengthen regulations regarding the usage of electrical equipment and home appliances that can cause skin damage due to radiation.

MISTI Minister HE Cham Prasidh said that the adoption of international standards as a national standard is for the benefit of the economy, trade, security and investment attraction.

At the 23rd meeting of the National Standards Council, MISTI also adopted four new international regulations to strengthen house electricity security as well. (Read more)

To date, the National Standards Council has decided to adopt international standards as national standards on a total of 988 standards.
