MLMUPC Orders Construction Site Managers to Strengthen Safety Measures

The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction has ordered all construction site owners or managers to strengthen safety measures on their worksites regardless of the size.

Even if the construction site is temporarily on hold or operating under a reduced number of workers, managers still have to practice full-scale safety measures to avoid dangers to the public and workers, according to warning letter No. 108 dated 11 August 2021.

During this COVID-19 pandemic, many construction sites have reduced the number of workers. Given the reduced-scale operations, the ministry discovered that some construction sites are being reckless on safety measures, which must be improved immediately.

Besides, the pandemic has also forced some sites to suspend operations. Thus, the ministry also ordered the managers to keep their sites organised by putting safety nets and covers to avoid unexpected accidents.
