NBC: Construction & Real Estate Contribute to Cambodia’s Economic Growth in 2022

The construction and real estate sectors are expected to contribute to Cambodia’s economic growth in 2022, according to a senior official of the National Bank of Cambodia.

HE Chea Chanto, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, said that Cambodia’s economic growth is expected to reach around 5.3%  in 2022.

“Cambodia’s economic growth is optimistic to continue to grow by about 5.3%, higher than 2021, at 3%, mainly supported by the growth of exports of manufacturing, construction and real estate and agriculture and gradual recovery of the tourism sector,” HE Chea Chanto said in a meeting held on 20 July.

However, HE Chea Chanto emphasized that the Cambodian economy may also face some uncertainties, such as the risk of a slowdown in EU economic growth that could affect exports and a slowdown in China’s economic growth, which could slow down investment growth and recovery of tourism and real estate sector.
