OCIC and BIG C Join Forces to Bring Top-Notch Shopping Experience to Chroy Changvar Satellite City

OCIC, one of Cambodia’s most prominent developers, has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with BIG C Shopping Mall from Thailand to bring the top brand to the new Chroy Changvar satellite city, situated north of Phnom Penh.

According to a press release by OCIC on 22 April 2023, the BIG C shopping mall project will be built on a 2.7-hectare site near the Neang Temmcha roundabout on the east bank of the Chroy Changva bridge, in close proximity to OCIC’s new commercial area.

The Director of OCIC, LIM LYCHIN, expressed her excitement regarding the project, stating that BIG C will be the first shopping mall in Chroy Changvar satellite city, the newest and most attractive commercial area in Phnom Penh.

“The goal of establishing the Chroy Changvar satellite city is to transform the area into one of the richest commercial cities in Phnom Penh, complete with large-scale projects to cater to the needs of national and international investors looking to enjoy entertainment and business in one place,” she added.

BIG C’s COO, Mr. GARY HARDY, shared his pleasure in expanding the brand’s network in Cambodia through the signing of the first BIG C Shopping Mall in Phnom Penh, situated in Chroy Changva. This new big mall will be the most strategically important one because in the past there was only 20 BIG C market in small form, “BIG C MINI” 20 places throughout Phnom Penh and Kampot.

“We are pleased to partner with OCIC and CANADIA GROUP. This first step is part of a strategy to expand the market over the next five years to develop more forms across Cambodia and the SEA region,” GARY said.

According to him, BIG C Shopping Mall also announced plans to expand the market over the next five years, with hundreds of new branches across Cambodia and the SEA region, especially the popular MINI BIG C Market. (Read more)

The mall project is well-timed, coinciding with OCIC’s bamboo cable bridge across the Tonle Sap River, which has made the area one of the most desirable destinations for rapid population growth, international investors and renowned brands.  (Read more)
