Three more underpasses to be built modernising the capital’s infrastructure

Phnom Penh City Hall currently plans to build three more underpasses in three different areas on National Road 1, Russian Federation Boulevard, in front of the Institute of Foreign Languages and Two Deer Park area near Ministry of Defense, to facilitate better traffic flow in the city, according to Agence Kampuchea Press (AKP) on 19 May 2020.

The first underpass is located at the crossroads on National Road 1 connecting PH ECO MALL National Road 1 in Sangkat Nirouth, Chbar Ampov district, Phnom Penh. The project is under H.E Governor Koung Sreng’s initiative where he requested Borey Peng Huoth (Boeung Snuo) to cooperate in building this underpass so that the Borey’s residents, as well as people around the area,can commute in and out of the outskirts of Phnom Penh, according to His Excellency Khuong Sreng, Governor of Phnom Penh.

The second underpass will be constructed in front of the Institute of Foreign Languages (IFL) of Royal University of Phnom Penh, along Russian Federation Road. The underpass will connect Road # 271 right into the institute, to cut down traffic congestion and accidents.

The third underpass will be built at Two Dear Park area near the Ministry of Defense, along Russian Federation Boulevard, connecting Road #169 to Boeung Kak Road, to ease traffic congestion in the area, according to Sam Piseth, director of the Phnom Penh Department of Public Works and Transport.
