Pm Lures More Japanese Investment to Cambodia

Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, has called for more Japanese investors and businessmen to consider investing in Cambodia, as he gave high praise for the good quality investment by Japanese investors and businessmen operating in the country.

In the workshop on Investment Opportunity in Cambodia held in Tokyo, Samdech Hun Sen asked Japanese investors and businessmen who have visited and who have never visited Cambodia to seek more understanding on the potential investment opportunities in Cambodia and to decide to inject investment in the country.

“Remarkably, activities of Japanese businesses and investments in Cambodia are mostly high quality and value-add investments which generate jobs and better living standards for Cambodian employees,” Samdech Hun Sen said in a speech to Japanese investors and businessmen at the workshop.

“In the context of the country’s industrial development, Cambodia does need more Japanese investment in food processing which uses raw material produced locally, eco-tourism, industry, and being a centre for human resource training for the industrial sector,” Samdech Hun Sen said.

Figures from the CDC show that from 1994 to the first quarter of 2019, 137 projects of Japanese companies have been registered with total investment of US$2.5 billion.

Lim Heng, vice president of Cambodia Chamber of Council, said more opportunities are available for Japanese investors to consider coming to Cambodia.

“More Japanese investors and businessmen are coming to Cambodia seeking investment opportunities, which means that Cambodia has a good investment environment, an in particular Cambodia’s law on investments is favourable to Japanese investments and other foreign investments,” Mr Heng said.
