PM Proposes Transformative Partnership: Japan-Cambodia Industrial Park for Logistics Advancement

In a strategic move to propel Cambodia’s logistics sector, Samdech Prime Minister Hun Manet has extended an invitation to Japan for the establishment of a collaborative industrial park. The proposal came to light during a significant meeting between Samdech PM Hun Manet and Ambassador Ueno Atsushi of Japan on 7 December 2023.

Japan, showcasing a commitment to fortifying its collaboration with Cambodia, expressed a willingness to expand support across various sectors, including investment, connectivity, technology, education, vocational training, security, and defense.

Samdech PM, endorsing the strengthening economic ties between the two nations, urged Japan to foster increased investment from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Cambodia. Furthermore, he advocated for the exploration of a joint venture – the Cambodia-Japan Industrial Park – and sought Japan’s assistance in developing a comprehensive logistics master plan. The focus is particularly on the transformation of the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port into a pivotal gateway for the region.

As a testament to Japan’s commitment to SME promotion, plans are underway to establish an office in Phnom Penh, dedicated to fostering the growth of small and medium enterprises in Cambodia. (Read more)
