Property Sector Yet to Experience Significant Effects from Community Transmission Event

President of the Cambodia Valuers and Estate Agents Association (CVEA) Mr Chrek Soknim said that the recent COVID-19 community transmission outbreak, known as the 28 November incident, has yet to negatively affect the real estate market in Cambodia.

Speaking to Construction & Property Magazine on 24 December, Mr Chrek Soknim said: “It is too soon to conclude the effects of the 28 November incident on the real estate market. However, I don’t think it affects it much as the situation is just temporary and still manageable.”

“However, in terms of the overall situation since the beginning of the outbreak, the market seems to slow down by a bit as foreign investment has been declining,” he added.

However, with effective government measures and the introduction of the vaccine, he is optimistic about 2021.

Mr Chrek Soknim was recently re-elected as the president of the Cambodia Valuer and Estate Agents Association (CVEA) for 2021-2022. (Read more)
