Cambodia FDI In 2023: Real Estate Soars to Third Place

As of 2023, foreign direct investment (FDI) in Cambodia surged to 197.8 trillion KHR (US$48.4 billion), marking a 7.9% increase over the previous year. This substantial influx of investment was channelled into key sectors such as financial activities, manufacturing, real estate, accommodation, agriculture, energy, and construction, according to a recent report released on 18 May 2024.

The report highlights that the real estate sector ranked third in attracting FDI, following the finance and manufacturing sectors. Additionally, it notes that the construction sector accounted for 5.8% of the total FDI inflows. Major contributors to FDI included China, which dominated with 45.6% of the total FDI, followed by South Korea, Singapore, Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

This diverse range of investment sources underscores Cambodia’s growing appeal as a destination for international capital, driven by robust economic growth and favourable investment conditions.
