Rooftop solar PV installation can reduce climate change risk and increase investment

Rooftop solar PV or known as Solar Photovoltaics installation has been mentioned as one of the solutions to reduce the risk of climate change and increase more investment in the report of De-Risking Renewable Energy Investment in Cambodia (DREI).

The National Council for Sustainable Development (NCSD) recently launched two reports, ‘Addressing Climate Change and Economic Growth in Cambodia’ and ‘De-Risking Renewable Energy Investment in Cambodia’ at the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra hotel on 04 October, which address how climate change can impact Cambodia’s economic sector.

Cambodian Ministry of Environment spokesperson, H.E Neth Pheaktra said solar energy cells installed the rooftops and household solar energy have been addressed in the DREI report to encourage increased investment.

According to the same DREI report, Cambodia has the potential to attract significant private sector investment in solar PV, estimated at US$903 million.

Solar PV on rooftops in Cambodia have been planned to be split into the commercial and industrial installations to meet the investment target.
