Construction of New Offshore Koh Tonsay Tourism Port to Begin by Mid-October

A new Koh Tonsay Tourism Port located on the Koh Tonsay Island, 4km offshore of Kep province’s mainland, is set to begin construction on 16 October and is expected to take 15 months to complete.

The construction timeline was set during the meeting on Thursday 30 September between the Kep provincial administration, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Public Works and Transports, Ministry of Tourism, ADB, and the contracting firm.

This new port is different from another Koh Tonsay Tourism Port which is located on the Kep province’s mainland and is currently under construction with a completion date expected soon. (Read more)

Meanwhile, this new one is located on the island and will be built under a US$1.6-million budget funded by ADB’s Greater Mekong Sub-Region Tourism Infrastructure for Inclusive Growth Project phase II.

The procurement of the Koh Tonsay tourism port was complete on 16 August 2021, with local firm Vimean Chey Group successfully being awarded the contract from ADB.
