Construction of Dara Sakor Int’l Airport 80% Complete

The construction of Dara Sakor International Airport is approximately 80% complete with final completion scheduled for  June 2023, according to the company’s report. 

Director of Dara Sakor International Airport Mao Keo Pich Chanmony told Construction & Property Magazine on 4 February, that the opening date is still uncertain. 

He said that the remaining work includes the airport terminal, rescue & firefighting centre, parking lots, administrative buildings, and accommodation building of relevant government officials working at the airport, among others. 

He added that there have been no charter flights in the past. There was only a test flight in April 2022 of the aircraft leased by the developer to check the airport’s landing. 

“After the completion, the airport will contribute to welcoming local and international tourists and bring investors to develop Koh Kong province further,” the director added. 

Dara ​Sakor International Airport is being developed by the Chinese company Union Development Group (UDG), which has received an economic land concession from the government to build and develop other areas in Botum Sakor district in Koh Kong province. The first phase of development covers an area of ​​218 hectares with another 1,000 hectares reserved for further investment.
