This proposition surfaced during a productive working meeting between HE Sun Chanthol, First Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, and HE Dominic Williams MBE, the British Ambassador to Cambodia, on February 5, 2024.

In the course of the meeting, discussions encompassed various aspects, including investment, infrastructure development within Cambodia, mutual support for the establishment of a green special economic zone, and the formulation of development programs spanning diverse sectors. The overarching goal is to fortify the bilateral ties between the two nations.

The Ambassador affirmed his commitment to bolstering Cambodia’s national infrastructure and supporting development initiatives across education, with a specific focus on girls’ education, as well as the economy, health, security, and safety.

Simultaneously, the British Ambassador proposed collaborative efforts in establishing the Green Special Economic Zone in Cambodia, underscoring the significance of environmental conservation in achieving sustainable development. In response, the Deputy Prime Minister wholeheartedly endorsed the UK’s initiative to establish the economic zone.
