ROC Collects Over 150 Tons of Garbage from Rivers in 7 Months

In the first seven months of 2022, River Ocean Cleanup (ROC) has collected over 150 tons of garbage from rivers to help promote natural biodiversity.

In an interview with the General Department of Radio National of Cambodia on 31 October 2022, Mr. Nou Sovann, Executive Director of ROC, said that the organization is carrying out its historic river clean-up mission while the mission is underway.

“We have been using boats equipped with the latest German technology to collect garbage from the river. We also recruited unemployed people to help us collect garbage along the riverbank,” said Mr. Sovann.

“We have seen the waterway in Phnom Penh, especially in the river, is still polluted and clogged garbage that has been built up for years. That is why we decided to take action,” he added.
