US$17 million in factory projects approved for construction sector products

The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) on 02 September approved more than US$17 million of investment in factory projects which will serve the construction industry as investment in the sector continues to grow.

According to a post on the CDC Facebook page, five factory projects have been approved in Takeo, Kampong Speu, Kampot, Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh with total investment value of US$17.3 million.

The investment projects came as the Ministry of Economy and Finance forecasted that in 2019 sub-sectors of industrial sectors such as food and beverage, automotive, electronics, spare parts, furniture, bicycles and cement will see high growth which includes investment expansion in existing and new projects.

Meko Lighting (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. will invest in a light bulb installation and electrical equipment factory in Champol village, Popea commune, Tram Kak district, Takeo province, with an investment of about US$2.3 million, creating 306 jobs.

Silver Beauty (Cambodia) Electronic and Lighting Co., Ltd will also set up an electric light bulb manufacturing factory located along National Road No.3 of Toul Tbaeng village, Prey Vihear commune, Kong Pisey district, Kampong Speu Province with an investment of about US$3.2 million, creating 179 jobs.

Sine Plastic (Cambodia) Industry Co., Ltd will set up a PVC pipe manufacturing factory located in Peam village, Prey Sar commune, Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh with an investment of US$3.6 million which will create 140 jobs.

Hong Chhing (Cambodia) Industry Development Co., Ltd, will invest in a construction material factory located in Trapaing Skun village, Trapaing Reang commune, Chum Kiri district, Kampot province with an investment of US$ 5.3 million, creating 144 jobs.

Mikol Stone Co., Ltd. will set up a granite furniture factory located in Stung Chral village, Obak Rotes commune, Kampong Seila district, Sihanoukville province with investment of US$2.9 million and will create 257 jobs.

In addition, CDC also allowed Zheng Heng (Cambodia) Co., Ltd to develop the ‘Dara Sakor Long Bay’ which includes a 700-key five-star hotel, commercial centre, tourism site, theme parks, infrastructure and other projects are located in Koh Sdach, Kiri Sakor District, Koh Kong province with investment of US$292 million which will create more than 2,116 jobs.
