MLVT announces plans for new Chinese university in Chruoy Changva

The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training has announced plans for the construction of a Chinese-owned university in Chruoy Changva. MLVT Minister H.E Ith Sam Heng told the media of the plan following an audience with a delegation from the Tianjin Polytechnic University, led by Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, Madam Professor Lian Jie at the ministry on 5 June.

According to the Chinese delegation, the university would be part of the commemorations for the 65th anniversary of official Cambodia-China diplomatic relations. Supporting the proposal, the minister recommended that the new institution to partner with the local institutions to provide higher-level studies.

During the courtesy call, however, none of the details of the side when the project will be put in place and how much amount of the investment will be spent.

Minister H.E Ith Sam Heng confirmed that the university would be constructed on a Chruoy Changva peninsula in cooperation with Oknha Pung Kheav Se’s Oversea Cambodia Investment Corporation (OCIC).

The Chinese-owned university will provide education in Khmer, Mandarin and other languages, ranging from vocational training, certificate, associate degrees, postgraduate to doctorate, according to the minister.
