Transport Minister: Work on Kratie-Kampong Thom Bridge to Start This Year

The Mekong River Bridge connecting Kratie and Kampong Thom provinces is scheduled to begin construction this year after the study is completed, according to the Minister of Public Works and Transport during the inauguration of the Heavy Vehicle Driving Training Centre on 04 February.

HE Chanthol confirmed that the ground will be broken on the bridge this year, but has yet to confirm the exact date.

According to the study, the bridge will be 1,761 metres long, and built under a concessional loan from the People’s Republic of China, with a construction period of two to three years.

To date, the feasibility study for the bridge has been completed and is now proceeding with a request for assistance from the Chinese government.

Regarding the location, construction points may be made between Koh Trong and Koh Chang, according to the map. However, the exact location has not yet been confirmed by the minister, since it may be further away from the city to allocate space for the future growth of Kratie town.
