US$160-million Morodok Techo Stadium Almost 100% Complete

Construction of the US$160-million Chinese-funded Morodok Techo Stadium is almost 100% complete and is expected to be finished next month despite the recent surge in the COVID-19 community outbreak.

The stadium is being built by China State Construction Engineering Corporation on an area of 94 hectares in Sangkat Prek Ta Sek of Russey Keo district.

With ground broken in April 2017, the stadium will be able to accommodate over 60,000 visitors upon completion and will be ready to host the 32nd SEA Games in 2023.

As of the end of March, the stadium had already been equipped with over 12,000 seats, according to Secretary-General of the Cambodian SEA Games Organising Committee Vath Chamroeun. (Read more)

He said that with the current average pace of installing 800 seats per day, the seat installing work should be done by April while the overall work will follow in May.

Meanwhile, another large-scale commercial building and residential project “WorldBridge Sport Village” has already been launched. (Read more)

This facility will be able to accommodate more than 7,000 athletes, which will help reduce their expenses on hotels and transportation. This will also be a centre where they can train for the games.
