Japan to Complete Siem Reap Smart City Planning in 2022

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will complete the planning for the Siem Reap smart city project by early 2022, according to a follow-up meeting between the provincial administration and JICA on 26 October.

Siem Reap Deputy Governor Ly Samrith said that the provincial administration had requested JICA to help study this project since 2019. In 2020, JICA sent its study team to conduct preliminary studies and also to gather information.

He said that after the JICA study is completed, Siem Reap will become a smart city of the ASEAN nations.

According to the Siem Reap Provincial Administration, the smart city project in Siem Reap is being studied and implemented by two bodies, Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (MLIT), and JICA.

JICA will implement two projects, including the Smart Parking System, and the Smart Scooter pilot project. (Read more)

Meanwhile, MLIT will implement two projects including the Smart City Data Collection and Analysis project, and CCTV System Introduction.
