Gov’t Establishes Five New Cities & Districts in Three Provinces

The Cambodian government has established five cities and districts in Kandal, Kampong Speu and Kratie provinces, according to Sub-Decree No. 269, 270, 271 and 272, dated on 23 December. 

The first new city is Sampov Loun in Kandal province with five communes including Chheu Khmao, Prek Chrey, Prek Speu, Chroy Takeo and Sampov Poun. The administrative location of Sampov Loun municipality is in Sampov Loun. 

The second is Arey Ksat in Kandal province which consists of 11 communes, including Bak Dao, Koh Oknha Tey, Prek Ampil, Prek Luong, Prek Takov, Svay Chrum, Arey Ksat, Sarika Keo, Peam Oknha Ong, Prek Kmeng and Barong. The administrative location of Arey Ksat Municipality must be located in Arey Ksat commune. 

The third is O’Kreang Senchey district in Kratie province which consists of five communes including Kbal Damrey commune, O’Kreang commune, O’Kandear Senchey commune, Rolous Meanchey commune and Sre Chey commune. The administrative location of O’Kreang Sen Chey district must be in O’Kreang commune. 

The fourth is Udong Mechey in Kampong Speu province which has five communes including Veang Chas, Veal Pong, Trach Tong, Preah Sre and Ksem Ksan. The administrative location of Udong Mechey municipality is in Veal Pong commune. 

The last is Samaki Monichey in Kampong Speu province which has 10 communes including Chan Sen commune, Cheung Ras commune, Champou Prek commune, Kraing Chek commune, Meanchey commune, Meanchey commune, Prey Krasang commune, Yut Samaki commune, Damnak Reang commune, Paing Lvea commune and Phnom Touch commune. The administrative location of Samaki Monichey district must be in Cheung Ras commune. 

The boundaries of the newly established municipal and district administrations are as defined in the map in the appendix of the above sub-decree.
