ADB Grants Cambodia US$40m to Build National School of Local Administration in Prek Pnov

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has committed a US$40 million loan to fund the construction of the National School of Local Administration in Prek Pnov. The groundbreaking ceremony, presided over by HE Dr Sar Sokha, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Interior on 19 January 2024, marked the initiation of a transformative project set to unfold on an expansive 8-hectare site in Trapeang Veng Village, Sangkat Kork Roka, Khan Prek Pnov, Phnom Penh.

The envisioned school complex, designed for comprehensive educational infrastructure, will encompass state-of-the-art facilities, including the main school building, dormitory, infrastructure, roads, parking lots, sports fields, and parks. The school building, spanning 80 metres in length, 50 metres in width, and rising three floors high, stands as a testament to Cambodia’s commitment to fostering educational excellence. Complementing this, the dormitory building, measuring 60 metres in length, 30 metres in width, and spanning two floors, aligns with modern standards for student accommodation.

The ADB’s financial injection into this landmark educational initiative underscores its dedication to supporting Cambodia’s broader reform initiatives within the public service sector. This strategic investment not only bolsters educational infrastructure but also aligns with Cambodia’s vision for a robust and dynamic local administration.
