Bentley Digital Technology Saves China Nearly a Year & Saves More Than US$8 million on 6.5m/m2 Reservoir Project

Nestled along the scenic Woken River in Heilongjiang, China, the Taoshan Reservoir, fondly known as the “Little West Lake” of Qitaihe City, stands as a testament to modern water management excellence. Serving as a linchpin for flood control, urban water supply, and the holistic utilization of farmland irrigation and aquaculture in Heilongjiang province, this reservoir covers an expansive 6.5 million square metres, according to Bentley Systems on 9 February 2024.

Renowned for its ecological focus, the Taoshan Lake project has achieved groundbreaking milestones in collaboration with Qitaihe Jianhe Investment and Construction Management and Heilongjiang Big Data Industrial Development.

In a strategic partnership, the project’s stakeholders utilised Bentley’s state-of-the-art digital construction solutions to transform diverse project data into comprehensive digital models. The culmination of this effort resulted in the creation of an advanced 4D model, intricately linking demolition and construction sequences.

This digital marvel empowered the team to conduct meticulous simulations, providing unparalleled insights into project scheduling and task execution. The outcome: a remarkable 40% reduction in construction time, facilitating the project’s delivery a staggering 240 days ahead of schedule. This not only underscored the efficiency of Bentley’s digital solutions but also translated into substantial cost savings exceeding CNY 60 million (More than US$8 million).

As the Taoshan Reservoir project emerges as a beacon of success in the realm of water conservancy and environmental development, it paves the way for future initiatives to leverage cutting-edge technology for sustainable resource management.
