Dauntri Dam in Battambang Province Reaches 81% Completion, to be completed by October Next Year

Construction of the Dauntri Dam in Battambang province, funded by South Korea, has reached an impressive 81% completion and is on track to be operational by 2025, as announced by the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MWRM).

The latest progress update was revealed during a site visit led by HE Chuon Beth Thul, the ministry’s Under Secretary of State, and Ms Minnie Chey, Country Director of K-Exim bank in Cambodia, who inspected the project on 14 March.

As of the aforementioned date, significant milestones have been achieved in the construction of the Dauntri Dam Development Project. Notably, the filling of the main dam has reached an impressive 58%, while the construction of the spillway stands at 95%. Furthermore, the completion of the water tunnel and concrete construction work of water management structures has been achieved, with irrigation equipment installation reaching 20% completion.

Once operational, the Dauntri Dam will play a crucial role in enhancing agricultural productivity, providing irrigation water to approximately 33,000 hectares of land during the rainy season and about 4,500 hectares during the dry season. Additionally, it will contribute to a clean water supply and help mitigate floods in the region, serving as a vital infrastructure development for Battambang province.

The Dauntri Dam Development Project, situated in Rukkiri district, Battambang province, commenced construction in June 2018 and has since made significant strides towards completion, marking a significant milestone in Cambodia’s infrastructure development efforts. (Read more)
