Battambang-koh Kong Route Under Feasibility Study

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) is currently undertaking a feasibility study on the mega infrastructure project to connect Battambang province to Cambodia’s deep sea port.

This new route will connect Battambang province to Koh Kong province, and continue to Sihanuokville.

“At this stage, our team is planning to go on field to study the possibility and other detail before we discussed into further detail. However, this route is very to help boost the logistic network in Cambodia,” said H.E. Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister, Minister of Public Works and Transport.

“At the moment, goods delivery between Battambang and the sea port is quite complicated as it transits from Battambang to Phnom Penh, and then Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville which consumes excessive time and resources. With the planned new route, goods can be delivered directly and easily. This will boost the usage of Cambodia’s sea port rather than using the Thai port of Laem Chabang,” he added.
