Kampong Cham Province Plans Construction of Tourism Standard Port

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT), in collaboration with the Kampong Cham Provincial Administration, conducted an inspection and evaluation of a potential site along the riverbank in Kampong Cham city for the development of a tourism port.

Led by HE Kim Sann, Under-Secretary of State of the MPWT, and Mr Heng Vanny, Deputy Governor of Kampong Cham Province, the assessment took place near the Kizuna Bridge on 26 March, with the aim of establishing Kampong Cham as a premier destination for cruise tourism.

According to HE Phan Rim, ministry spokesman, the envisioned project seeks to create a safe and aesthetically pleasing standard port suitable for docking international cruise ships, facilitating access to the province’s tourism resorts.

“The current docking facilities for cruise ships are inadequate, necessitating the development of a standard port that meets international standards,” remarked HE Phan Rim.

Preliminary assessments indicate that the chosen location offers ample space for port infrastructure, including amenities such as tourist waiting areas and restroom facilities.

Moving forward, a technical team will conduct further studies to assess the waterway’s technical conditions, flow patterns, and potential challenges, ensuring comprehensive planning and execution of the project.
