19 Japanese Firms Set Sights on Cambodia’s Green Technology & Carbon Credit Sectors

A total of 19 Japanese companies have shown strong interest in investing in Cambodia’s green technology and carbon credit sectors, a promising development discussed during a high-level meeting between Prime Minister Samdech Hun Manet and Ms Mio Kawada, Vice President of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), on 7 August 2024.

Representing the interests of the 19 companies, Ms Mio Kawada praised the Royal Government of Cambodia’s initiatives to improve the investment climate, highlighting the country’s potential in green technology and carbon credits through Japan’s advanced technology. She noted that this is JETRO’s second business mission to Cambodia, with a particular focus this time on these sectors.

Prime Minister Hun Manet warmly welcomed the ongoing interest from Japanese firms, emphasising the Royal Government’s full support for their investment endeavours in clean energy and carbon credits.

To facilitate this, he proposed the formation of a working group comprising representatives from relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions to work closely with JETRO and the interested Japanese companies, ensuring efficient discussions and progress on these green initiatives.
