Takeo Authorities to Bolster Security with Camera & Streetlight Installations

Takeo provincial authorities have announced plans to enhance public safety by installing security cameras and additional street lights in key urban areas, parks, and public spaces to address growing concerns over insecurity and social order issues.

The initiative, revealed by HE Vy Samnang, Governor of the Takeo Provincial Board of Governors, aims to mitigate risks and improve law enforcement capabilities to tackle crimes such as theft, robbery, and drug-related activities. The announcement was made during the 4th Ordinary Meeting of the 4th Mandate of the Takeo Provincial Council on 11 September 2024.

Governor Vy Samnang highlighted that many streets in the city suffer from poor lighting, making night-time travel risky for residents.

In response, the authorities plan to install enhanced street lighting alongside security cameras to provide law enforcement with better tools to monitor high-risk areas. This is expected to contribute significantly to improving safety standards, allowing for quicker responses to criminal activities and overall peace of mind for Takeo’s residents.
