Kampong Cham Reaches 99% Completion in Landmark Land Registration Efforts

Kampong Cham province has achieved a monumental milestone in land registration, completing over 99% of the targeted work encompassing more than 90,000 land parcels. This progress was celebrated during a recent site inspection ahead of a ceremonial event on 9 December 2024, where residents will finally receive their long-awaited land titles, marking a transformative moment for many families.

HE Un Chanda, Governor of Kampong Cham, highlighted that the systematic land registration initiative has spanned an impressive 21 years, covering 946 villages across 109 communes-Sangkat and 10 city districts. To date, approximately 917,795 land parcels have been surveyed and documented, with the total target set at 924,421 parcels. This comprehensive effort underscores the province’s commitment to ensuring security and clarity in land ownership for its citizens.

Looking ahead, Governor Un Chanda revealed that if progress continues as planned, Samdech PM Hun Manet is expected to preside over the formal distribution of land titles by the end of December 2024. This landmark event will symbolize a new era of stability and economic empowerment for countless Cambodians.

On a national scale, Cambodia has successfully registered 7.7 million private land parcels, a feat that reflects the government’s ambitious commitment to securing land ownership rights. Of these, the Ministry of Land Management has issued title deeds for 7 million parcels and completed surveys for an additional 3 million, with plans to finalize all registrations by 2025. This initiative not only protects the rights of landowners but also aims to catalyze economic development by fostering a more secure and organized land ownership environment. (Read more)
