Progress Report: National Road No. 48 Restoration Nears Completion

The restoration and upgrade of National Road No. 48, stretching 148 kilometers from Sre Ambel to Koh Kong, has reached an impressive 78% completion as of the beginning of 2025, according to a statement from HE Phorn Rim, Spokesman of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

The ambitious project, which commenced on January 3, 2022, aims to significantly enhance the road’s quality, improving transportation, logistics, and tourism potential along this vital economic route. The total budget allocated for the project is approximately USD 78 million. (Read more and more)

HE Phorn Rim highlighted that the asphalt concrete (AC) ironing work will be finished by the end of the dry season in 2025. Some road sections have already been successfully completed, enhancing accessibility in the region.

As construction continues, HE Phorn Rim urged all road users, particularly heavy truck operators, to exercise caution and avoid overloading, especially on hilly sections. He also reminded taxi and passenger vehicle drivers to maintain a controlled speed to ensure their safety and that of others while helping to minimize dust on the roads.

National Road No. 48 is recognized as a key transportation artery for economic and trade activities, making its restoration crucial for the region’s development.
