Border Ring Road Construction Progress Approaches 40% Milestone

The construction progress of the highly anticipated border ring road has reached nearly 40%, marking a significant step forward for the project. As of now, approximately 39.92% of the total construction plan has been completed, as reported in a press release today.

The initiative, funded by the Border Infrastructure Fund (BIF), aims to enhance connectivity along the Cambodian border. Over the past five months, the BIF work team has made notable strides: they have cleared 5-metre-wide paths for approximately 110 kilometres to establish the initial route, and widened roads to 20 metres over 103.85 kilometres to define the road axis. Additionally, the team has tackled natural obstacles by clearing valleys and streams, lowering mountain slopes, and constructing canals spanning 100.50 kilometres. The roadbed has been built, and mountain walls have been cut over 99.10 kilometres, with crushed stone paving laid on 75.20 kilometres.

In terms of regional achievements, Mondulkiri province has contributed significantly, completing 44.90 kilometres, which accounts for 42.45% of its designated segment. Ratanakiri province is also making progress, with 30.30 kilometres completed, equivalent to 34.26% of its share.

The ambitious project, which covers a total length of 250 kilometres, was launched by the Royal Government of Cambodia on 1 November 2024, with a budget nearing USD 26.97 million. The completion date is set for the end of April 2027. (Read more)
