Kampong Thom Province Enhances Cashew Production with New Initiatives

Kampong Thom Province is solidifying its position as a significant player in the cashew industry, currently boasting 12 processing factories and workshops. This includes three dedicated processing facilities and nine workshops that collectively have the capacity to store up to 18,195 tons of cashews annually.

During a meeting on April 20, 2025, led by His Excellency Nguon Reasy, the Deputy Governor of Kampong Thom, key stakeholders discussed strategies to boost the province’s cashew crop yield. His Excellency highlighted the provincial administration’s commitment to improving farmers’ skills in crop management and promoting the use of high-quality seeds to enhance productivity. In alignment with these efforts, plans are underway to strengthen market connections between farmers, agricultural communities, collectors, and processing and export companies.

Prime Minister Hun Sen recently endorsed the establishment of a cashew industrial park in Kampong Thom during the closing ceremony of the 2024 work summary conference and the planning session for 2025 at the Ministry of Land Management. He emphasized that this initiative will not only generate job opportunities for local residents but also transform Kampong Thom into a leading agro-industrial zone, positively impacting the regional economy.(Read more)

In a remarkable showing for the country, Cambodia reached a cashew nut output of 850,000 tons in 2024, with 815,000 tons exported, marking a significant 21% increase, valued at $1.15 billion, a rise of 26.15%.
