Cambodian Trade Centers in the UK Progress to Site Inspection Stage

In a significant step towards establishing Cambodian trade centers in the UK, His Excellency Sean Thai, Secretary of State for Commerce, recently led a delegation from the Ministry of Commerce to inspect potential sites in London and Birmingham. This inspection took place from June 11 to 13, 2025, as part of the Cambodian government’s initiative to accelerate the establishment of these centers, aimed at promoting Cambodian products to international markets.

The announcement was made by the Ministry of Commerce on June 16, 2025, through its social media channels.

Lok Chumteav Chamnimol, Minister of Commerce, had previously outlined plans to open Cambodian private trade centers not only in the UK but also in New Delhi, India. These centers are designed to attract foreign traders and investors, showcasing the wealth of Cambodian products and strengthening trade ties. (Read more)

During the site inspections, H.E. Sean Thai emphasized the goal of these centers: to present Cambodian products and provide essential information on trade, investment, tourism, and culture to British businesses and investors. This initiative is aimed at fostering greater interest and engagement with Cambodia.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cambodia to the UK, Her Excellency Tuot Panha, also expressed her enthusiasm for the trade centers, highlighting their potential to encourage British entrepreneurs to explore business opportunities in Cambodia and enhance bilateral trade relations.

Additionally, Bridgemount Ltd., a UK-based company, has shown interest in investing in key sectors within Cambodia. The firm met with the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) on February 7, 2025, marking a crucial step towards potential collaboration and investment opportunities. (Read more)
