Cambodia Welcomes Nearly 70,000 Malaysian Tourists in First Eight Months of 2025, Marking a 10% Increase

In a positive trend for the tourism sector, Cambodia welcomed nearly 70,000 Malaysian tourists in the first eight months of 2025, reflecting a nearly 10% increase compared to the same period last year. The announcement came from the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism via their official Facebook page on September 29, 2025.

The upsurge in Malaysian visitors comes as part of a broader initiative associated with World Tourism Day and the recently held World Tourism Conference 2025, celebrating the launch of the “Visit Malaysia 2026” campaign. This initiative has garnered collaboration between the Malacca State Administration and the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

In 2024, Cambodia recorded 94,260 Malaysian tourists, representing a 7.3% increase from 2023. According to the ministry, Malaysian visitors accounted for 66,298 arrivals during the first eight months of 2025, which is an 8.3% rise from the same timeframe in 2024.

Looking ahead, Cambodia anticipates that the new “Visit Malaysia 2026” campaign, coupled with the upcoming commissioning of the 4F Techo International Airport, will greatly enhance tourism flow between Malaysia and Cambodia. This strategic initiative is expected to boost international travel routes, particularly for tourists traversing through Malaysia.

Overall, Cambodia’s tourism sector is on the rise, having welcomed over 4 million international tourists and seen nearly 17.3 million domestic tourists in the same period, an impressive increase of nearly 53% compared to last year. Prime Minister Samdech Thep Thaug Hun Sen highlighted these encouraging statistics during his message for World Tourism Day 2025 on September 27. (Read more)
