Doun Tri Dam Reaches 100% Completion, Set to Irrigate 37,500 Hectares in Western Cambodia.

BATTAMBANG, Cambodia – The Doun Tri Dam Development Project, located in Roka Kiri District, Battambang Province, has officially reached 100% completion. H.E. Thor Chetha, Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology, confirmed the full completion status during a direct inspection of the project site on August 23, 2025.

The dam project, which was funded by a concessional loan from the Republic of Korea, spanned 90 months of construction. Work began in June 2018 and was originally scheduled to be finished by October 2025. (read more)

The completed Doun Tri Dam has a significant capacity to store 163 million cubic meters of water. This will allow it to supply irrigation water to 33,000 hectares of agricultural land during the wet season and 4,500 hectares during the dry season. Its benefits cover 11 communes across Moung Ruessei and Roka Kiri districts in Battambang Province, as well as Bakan District in Pursat Province. (read more)

In addition to supporting agriculture, the Doun Tri Dam was also designed to provide a clean water supply for local communities and mitigate flood risks in certain downstream areas.
