Government to Rehabilitate Sre Ambel-koh Kong Road

In a bid to improve citizens’ access to and use of transport infrastructure, the Cambodian government plans to spend more than US$70 million to renovate National Road 48 linking Sre Ambel to Koh Kong Province, according to H.E Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport (MPWT).

Speaking to reporters on 23 August, H.E Sun Chanthol said that the Korean government has agreed to provide a loan of about US$67 million to Cambodia to renovate National Road 48 from DBST type to AC type. In addition, the government will also add an additional US$8 million from the national funds to support the renovation project.

According to the minister, the government, under the responsibility of MPWT, is currently preparing procedures for selecting a technical company to bid on the project.

However, H.E Sun Chanthol added that due to the severe damage on 22.26% of the road the MPWT will prepare procedures to repair the damage to the road as soon as possible before the coming up Sea Festival which will be held in Koh Kong Province.
