Strong diplomatic ties and growing economic cooperation pave the way for ambitious new trade targets between the two nations

Cambodia and Singapore have officially committed to a joint effort to increase their bilateral trade volume to $10 billion in the coming years. This ambitious goal comes as the current trade between the two nations has already reached approximately $5 billion. The commitment was highlighted during a high-level meeting between Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Her Excellency Teo Lay Cheng, Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to Cambodia, on March 4, 2026.

During the discussion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed great satisfaction with the upward trajectory of the trade relationship, noting that the $5 billion milestone serves as a strong foundation for future growth. He emphasized his hope that both governments will continue to work closely to achieve the new $10 billion target. The meeting also served as a platform to acknowledge the deep political and diplomatic ties that have bolstered economic and investment activities between the two countries over the past several years.

Ambassador Teo Lay Cheng, who is concluding her diplomatic mission in Cambodia, was praised for her significant contributions to advancing these bilateral relations. In recognition of her five-year tenure and her role in strengthening ties, she was conferred the Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Sahametrei. Both parties reaffirmed their dedication to expanding cooperation in key areas, including trade, investment, and regional diplomatic engagement, to ensure continued mutual prosperity.

According to a report by the Ministry of Commerce, in 2025 Cambodia-Singapore trade volume reached $2.341 billion, an increase of 88.97% compared to the same period in 2024, when it was $1.239 billion.
