Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce Sets Sights on Cambodian Cashew Nuts

In a significant development for international trade, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce has announced its intention to introduce Cambodian cashew nuts to the Bulgarian market. This initiative was revealed during a meeting on October 20, 2025, between Mr. Maxim Behar, First President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and CEO of M3 Communications Group, and His Excellency Prak David, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

Mr. Behar expressed enthusiasm about enhancing collaboration between Bulgaria and Cambodia, emphasizing the potential for exporting high-quality Cambodian cashew nuts to Bulgaria. He also indicated an interest in exploring investment opportunities within the Cambodian agricultural sector.

In response, H.E. Prak David showcased the rich variety of Cambodia’s agricultural products, known for their exceptional quality and flavor. He highlighted the favorable investment framework in Cambodia, designed to attract foreign investors and provide numerous benefits. The Secretary of State extended an invitation to Bulgarian delegations and investors to participate in the upcoming Cambodia Agricultural Forum and Exhibition 2025 (CAFE25). This inaugural event aims to foster trade relationships, draw both domestic and international investors, and elevate the profile of Cambodian agri-food processing on the global stage.

According to the Cambodian Cashew Association, the country boasts 50 cashew processing enterprises, which include six medium-sized factories with a combined production capacity ranging from 7,000 to 14,000 tons annually. Projections indicate that Cambodia will produce an impressive 850,000 tons of cashew nuts in 2024, representing a 26 percent increase from the previous year.

This prospective partnership not only holds promise for the Bulgarian market but also represents a significant opportunity for Cambodian agriculture, potentially boosting the local economy and promoting sustainable growth in the sector.
