Cambodia & Japan Unite to Enhance Job Opportunities for Cambodian Students in IT

In a significant collaborative move, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of Cambodia has partnered with around 135 digital technology companies from Tokyo and Osaka, Japan, to promote the Japanese IT Pathway initiative. This program is designed to help Cambodian students, particularly those in technology and digital fields, secure employment in Japanese tech companies.

The joint effort was discussed during a pivotal meeting held on 1-2 June 2025, between HE Minister Chea Vandet and representatives from leading Japanese tech firms, organised by the Cambodia-Japan Association and Japan’s Next Make. The meeting emphasised the successful implementation of the Japanese IT Pathway, where participating companies are expected to accept graduates of the program as potential employees.

During the meeting, Minister Chea Vandet encouraged the use of the VERIFY.GOV.KH document verification platform in Japan, highlighting its importance for Cambodian students. He also urged Japanese companies to consider investing in Cambodia, particularly in the development of digital parks.

The Japanese IT Pathway, coordinated by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications in collaboration with Next Make, aims to provide Cambodian students with comprehensive training in both the Japanese language and digital technology skills. Third and fourth-year students enrolled in the program will have the opportunity to graduate and potentially secure jobs with Japanese digital technology firms.

This initiative comes at a time when notable technology companies from Malaysia and Japan have shown interest in investing in Cambodia’s information and communication technology sector, especially in areas like digital security. (Read more and more)
